Solar System Module

Context: While enrolled in EME605 during the summer of 2015, students were assigned the task of creating an instructional module based on a pre-designed lesson plan. There were multiple components to the assignment including, The Planet Explorer, Lecture, Assessment, and Course Introduction. In addition, students were expected to publish the course for both Blackboard and Canvas Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Conditions: This was an individual assignment with no budget and a five week window for completion. The lecture plan and course materials were provided by the instructor, but the students had creative freedom in regards to audience, software, media, etc.

Scope: This was the final project submitted at the culmination of the semester. Upon receiving instructor feedback, the audio was re-recorded using external software to improve quality and sound clarity.

Role: I was sole contributor to this project and was responsible for all elements of design and development. I have a strong interest in STEM (STEAM) education, especially for underrepresented populations. By harnessing the GoldieBlox philosophy and characters as a framework, I developed an interactive online module that would be appropriate for girls (and boys) ages 6-9.

Software: Articulate Storyline 2, Blackboard CourseSites, Canvas, Camtasia, Audacity
